Anxious about acne?

Start early to get your skin under control before your wedding day

I have bad acne. What can I do to clear it up before the big day?

Acne is caused by a combination of bacteria, excess oil production, hormones, and clogged pores. The answer to this question depends on how much time we have to treat your skin before your wedding day, and the severity of your acne. Quite often the occasional breakout can be eliminated with the use of a properly prescribed, physician monitored skincare routine that is antibacterial and gently exfoliating. Ideally you would start the program four to six months in advance of your wedding to ensure optimal clearing.

During this time, I may also recommend a series of light-based treatments to brighten your complexion, even out your skin tone, and eliminate any areas of pigmentation that the acne caused. If you have less time, a series of chemical peels may be an option, and some oral medication may be added to help prevent any last minute breakouts. Adjustments to your skincare and makeup are also likely, to ensure the ingredients are not contributing to the acne.

The key is to start your treatment early (ideally a few months in advance) to allow sufficient time to get your skin glowing.
