Save the date cards have been used for a long time to help guests reserve your wedding date prior to mailing the invitations. Save the date cards are certainly an important part of every wedding. As more and more families and friends are spread out across the country, people need more time to plan for attending functions such as your wedding. If your “save the date” is rather unique it will be remembered. But be sure to send out some traditional save the dates to those who aren’t technologically savvy.

Having a destination wedding? Create a little treasure chest for each guest and fill it with tiny (inexpensive) treasures. Include a “save the date” note inside. These are fun and interesting!

Use social media – Create and post a fun YouTube video to announce your wedding date and ask people to save the date. Send emails to alert people of your video. For those guests who aren’t up to date on technology, you’ll still want to send along traditional save the date postcards.

Send a bottle of wine – Have wine bottle labels customized with your names and wedding date. Send each guest a bottle with a note attached to take a celebratory sip in their honour.

Create a Wedding-zine – Make a small booklet and have it printed. Use photos and information about aspects of your wedding including the date and time so people can save the date.

Blog it – Create a new blog just for details of your wedding. Start with a new blog to announce your wedding date and keep it updated with information about the specifics as they become available. Be sure to send everyone the blog address.

Magnets – Sometimes overused and boring, create a unique and fun magnet that includes the date of your wedding. It’s still a very useful tool and one that really never goes out of style.

Include a Hobby – Think about the things you and your fiancé love to do and include it into a save the date choice. For example, if you enjoy camping, create small tins filled with ingredients for s’mores. Add a label with your names and wedding date.
